A real-time AI companion you meet over live video — not a chat box. Aiwalay built the production backend end to end: live avatar sessions with a text fallback, personality-based onboarding, and consent-gated private memory.
The problem
Helel.ai wanted an AI companion that feels present — one users actually see and talk to over live video, that remembers them only with permission, and that isn't locked to a single AI or avatar vendor.
What we built
Aiwalay built a provider-agnostic core: the language models and the video-avatar vendor sit behind internal interfaces, so switching vendors is a configuration change, not a rewrite. Save/resume personality onboarding produces a profile; consent-gated memory means the companion only ever remembers what the user explicitly approves — un-approving deletes the stored profile chunks — and context is retrieved over the approved profile with vector search / RAG. Per-tenant data isolation is enforced at the DB layer on every table, with schema-validated TypeScript boundaries throughout.
